Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find my order number?

You can find your order number at the top of the email confirmation. It will also be in the shipping email.

How long does it take for an order to ship?

As we ramp up, we are currently shipping on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you order on another day, the order will wait until the following Monday or Wednesday to be shipped.  We are sorry for the delay-we are moving as quickly as we can.

Only some of what I ordered arrived - why is that?

Well, it most likely means that one of your items is backordered and we will ship it soon. It could also mean we made a mistake. Either way, send us an email with your name and order number and we will figure it out quickly.

Why is the cost of shipping so high?

That is what UPS, DHL and the U.S. Postal Service are charging right now given our volume. We do not mark up these charges at all. We do recommend (though we know it serves us well), that you order more than one item, because the shipping costs for a single item can frequently be the same as the multiple items.  Our shipping costs are calculated by weight and size. We do not add any handling fees.  We offer free shipping on orders over $75.

Do you ship outside the United States?

We sure do. Just be aware that shipping costs are usually much higher abroad both because of the cost of shipping as well as tariffs and import taxes.

What does 'single origin' mean?  Where does your salt come from?

Single source origin means that all of our salt comes from a single place: our family farm on Imjado.  It’s a little slice of heaven that hangs off the southwestern coast of Korea.  It’s been in our family for four generations.

Are Josu products gluten free?

Currently, none of our products contain gluten. But we do not certify that they are gluten-free because some of the ingredients might have been processed in a factory that uses ingredients that contain gluten.

Are Josu products kosher?

None of our salt blends contain meat or dairy products, and are not certified as kosher nor is the equipment that makes them.

Is the salt iodized?

We do not add iodine to the salt; it is 100% pure sea salt.

Where is your salt packaged?

Our salt is blended and packaged at a commercial kitchen in beautiful Alameda, CA.

If you need a question answered that’s not included here, send a note to parker@josu.co and we will get right on it.
